The Research group Designed Materials for the Energy and Environment is settled at the Materials Science Institute (ICMS, CSIC-US) and belongs to the Engineered Ceramics for Extreme Environments Department.
Their main research goal is the sustainable synthesis and processes of ecofriendly materials for energy storage, food treatment and waste management. Their research contributed to the circular economy because it is based on the revalorization of industrial and agricultural subproducts, natural minerals source and biomass.
The research team also has expertise in different characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, infrared spectroscopy, and especially, Electronic Microscopy and Solid State Nuclear Magnetic Resonance.
The group has most of the relevant lab equipment required to carry out the research tasks, either in their labs or via shared facilities or central research services, such as the equipment at the ICMS (https://www.icms.us-csic.es/es/servicios) and CITIUS (http://citius.us.es/web/).
